Saturday Morning Breakfast Fun

Waking up on a lazy Saturday morning, is truly one of life’s simple pleasures. Whether it’s waking up to your significant other, your kids, your pet or all three, you know it’s going to be an amazing morning when you get to spend it with those you love.

Getting up and rallying together in the kitchen on a Saturday morning for breakfast, can be one of the best ways to get the family participating in a morning Lo.Co activity and making memories. Here is a way to get the entire family involved, while making breakfast interactive for all ages.

Saturday Scramble Bar:

The following ideas are just some fun suggestions we have tried out with our families, but feel free to adapt the ingredients to some of your family favorites. We will argue to try and incorporate something green, just to get the kids eating healthy – what better way to hide your daily-dose of veggies, than in an omelet! You may need a dozen or more eggs, depending on the size of your Lo.Co family.

Needed ingredients:

  • Eggs or egg whites (beaten with a little milk and seasoned with salt and pepper for taste)
  • Cheese (any variety will work here – there is no wrong type of cheese in our book)
  • Tomatoes
  • Spinach
  • Sweet Potato
  • Bacon (cooked)
  • Sausage (cooked)
  • Or sliced ham if you prefer

Here is where the kids can help out! Have them give a helping hand by chopping tomatoes, tearing apart some spinach leaves and setting-up the actual scramble “bar” with mini bowls of each ingredient. Next have them choose their favorite toppings and assist in mixing their individual scramble or omelet in a small or medium-sized pan over heat. Any way to get them involved in the preparation is a great way to learn more about measuring quantities and building flavor profiles.

Being part of the cooking process from beginning to end, can really build a sense of gratification and completion for your kids. It is important to show them with a little discipline and attention, delicious things can be created – and what better way to realize those things, than as a family.

So sit down and enjoy a lovely breakfast all together, on a lazy Saturday morning! #CookingWithLoCo
